May 2023 Community Gathering

In 2023, the Ottawa Aboriginal Coalition hosted the first Community Gathering dinner since the beginning of COVID-19 which included guest speakers, local Indigenous entertainment, and a catered dinner. The annual Community Gathering provides us an opportunity to share with the community the work that we’ve been doing, as well as hear from our community members. Please have a look through the most recent forum report and COVID-19 Research Report from our most recent Community Forum in May 2023.

We acknowledge the gift of being on Anishnabek territory and specifically on Algonquin Territory. We want to recognize the two closest Algonquin First Nation communities: Kitigan Zibi and the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan. We also recognize that today - Ottawa is a gathering place for First Nations, Inuit and Métis from across Canada. This land acknowledgement commits us to the original relationship we were building together – through friendship and peace.
