Photo Repository Project
This timeline was designed to accompany the OAC Photo Repository Project: Our Digital Bundle with support from the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs and in partnership with Minwaashin Lodge - Indigenous Women's Support Centre.
This digital bundle presents key events and developments in the story of Minwaashin Lodge from 1992 to present. While no timeline can be exhaustive in its coverage, it provides a chronological overview of a valuable story of where it all started and where they are today.
This timeline is interactive, click on dates or photos to learn more about each milestone.
Minwaashin Lodge helps sponsor the development for an "Aboriginal Health Access Centre" which becomes Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health.
The Employment Readiness Program is established and is modeled on the teaching of the Medicine Wheel
Oshki Kizis Lodge transitions from a homeless shelter to a Violence Against Women Shelter for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis women & children who are fleeing abuse
produces two music videos with Indigenous Youth,The Love You Give and Time to Shine
The Street Team OutReach Mobile, STORM, is created to serve women at-risk or currently homeless and/or street involved
Minwaashin Lodge carries out a Feasibility Study "Residential Addictions treatment Facility for Aboriginal Women and Their Children in
the City of Ottawa"
Art Therapy program is created to provide culturally based talk and play therapy for First Nations, Metis and Inuit children
