Inuuqatigiit Centre for Inuit Children, Youth and Families is a multi service non-profit organization serving Inuit children and youth and their families. Position: Project Coordinator – Full-time (Determinate) until March 2022 with possibility of extension

Hours: 37.5 hours – Monday to Friday
Salary Range: $
25.72 - $32.49 per hour + 4% vacation pay


POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Director of Early Years Program, the Project Coordinator is responsible for the successful planning, development, and delivery of all activities under the Living Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit in Indigenous Early Learning Child Care (IELCC) Practice project.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and oversee all aspects of project (e.g. research, meetings, focus groups, etc).;

  • Assist in the organization of literature reviews, workshops and other components of the workas required;

  • Oversee the work of the consultants;

  • Assist with recruitment of Project Advisory Committee members and arrange and facilitateregular committee meetings;

  • Organize a knowledge exchange between activity between Inuuqatigiit Centre’s Early YearsEducators and Inuit Educators from Nunavut as well as focus groups;

  • Organize and review sessions for Living Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit in Inuit ELCC practiceproject;

  • Contact and confirm meeting and focus group attendees and arrange for reimbursementsand honoraria;

  • Assist with travel and transportation arrangements for consultants, Project AdvisoryCommittee members, focus group members and others as needed;

  • Identify and report on concerns and issues related to project delivery to the Director of EarlyYears;

  • Resolve issues that arise in project delivery;

  • Meet all tracking, evaluation, and reporting requirements of funder and Inuuqatigiit (clientnotes, attendance, maintaining project statistics, meeting project targets, creating surveys,completing Incident/Accident reports);

  • Prepare and submit various reports as required (e.g. to the Director of Early Years, fundingagencies, partner organizations etc.);

  • Liaise with staff when planning special activities;

  • Adhere to project budget and work closely with the Director of Early Years and Director ofFinance and Administration;

  • Participate in developing funding proposals in collaboration with the Director of Early Yearsand Director of Finance and Administration;

  • Apply and monitor rigorous financial systems and financial policies of the Inuuqatigiit;

  • Arrange for reimbursements and honoraria to be provided to project participants as required;

  • Maintain thorough, orderly, and confidential filing system as part of the administrative tasks required by Inuuqatigiit;

  • Meet all tracking, evaluation, and reporting requirements of Inuuqatigiit;

  • Prepare progress and final reports as required by funders;

  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required;

  • Adhere to all Inuuqatigiit policies and procedures;

  • Adhere to and promote the mandate and mission of Inuuqatigiit;

  • Engage with various agencies and stakeholders to strengthen, develop, and promote theproject;

  • Establish relationships that benefit the delivery of a quality project.

  • Adheres to Inuuqatigiit’s Policies and Procedures; and

  • Demonstrates effective management skills.

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Accountable for the effective and efficient management of the project in keeping with funding and partnership agreements;

  • Accountable for the safety and security of participants in project activities;

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Develop supportive and professional rapport with Inuuqatigiit Centre staff and consultants;

  • Participate in conflict resolution when required;

  • Act as a positive role model to promote professional values and ethics within InuuqatigiitCenter and to community;

  • Provide leadership in promoting and practicing Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, professional values,and ethics within Inuuqatigiit Centre;

  • Assume leadership role for all aspects of work related to the project;

  • Demonstrate autonomy and initiative;

  • Actively participate as member of project team;

  • Assist in the planning, organization, and delivery of Inuuqatigiit Centre Community events;

  • Actively participate as a member of the team and support fellow team members in delivery ofservices through open and regular communication;

  • Provide adequate and appropriate feedback to staff.

EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

  • Communicate regularly with partners, funders, and other stakeholders;

  • Monitor all communications with project participants;

  • Participate in developing funding proposals for other projects; and

  • Support the role of Elders and resource people in sharing traditional knowledge within theproject.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Adhere to all deadlines e.g. funder reports, proposal submissions;

  • Demonstrate stress resistance and stamina;

  • Physical ability to access three story building;

  • Work regular and consistent weekly hours of work;

  • Additional hours on occasion to meet deadlines and ensure delivery of high-quality services;

  • May be required to work evenings and weekends;

  • Ensure personal safety precautions are observed at all times;

  • Ensure Public Health Guidelines for Covid-19 Pandemic are followed at all times; and

  • Strong knowledge of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, culture, language, and community.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Inuit descent required;

  • Strong knowledge of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit principles, culture, and community;

  • Strong knowledge of Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years;

  • Strong knowledge of How Does Learning Happen document;

  • Written and spoken fluency in Inuktitut required;

  • Knowledge of the needs of Inuit children and families;

  • Experience working with Inuit or Aboriginal communities required;

  • Vulnerable Sector Check required in keeping with Inuuqatigiit Centre Personnel Policies and Procedures;

  • Medical certification of good health;

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccines (Dose 1 & 2);

  • TB Test if applicable and other immunizations up to date; and

  • CPR / First Aid Certification (or willingness to become certified).
