Inuuqatigiit Centre for Inuit Children, Youth and Families is a multi-service non- profit organization serving Inuit children, youth, and their families. We are dedicated to providing cultural, educational, and support services in a caring, respectful, and collaborative environment that fosters strong and proud Inuit children and families.


Position: Program Assistant (Youth Programs)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Terms: Determinate Full-Time – March 15, 2021-March 31, 2022

Salary Range: $17.50 - $22.00 per hour


POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Manager of Youth programs, the Program Assistant is responsible for assisting with the delivery of Inuuqatigiit Centre’s programs and services and assisting with administrative duties. The incumbent must work to meet project deliverables and/or program goals while supporting the vision and mandate of Inuuqatigiit Centre.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

• Supporting daily program activities as required;

• Purchasing supplies, materials, furniture, and equipment;

• Visa statement reconciliation and uploading to Sharepoint;

• Support physical space organization and maintenance;

• Facilitate communication from Manager to the team to share administrative and other information;

• Responsible for mailing correspondence and packages as required by the team;

• Setting up required meetings between manager and team members;

• Assist Manager to ensure expense and mileage reimbursement forms are correctly completed and submitted to Finance;

• Assist Manager to ensure that Request for Leave forms are completed and submitted for all staff;

• Assist Manager with obtaining and distributing taxi chits and bus tickets;

• Set up tours of facilities for new staff and set up on-line or in-person introductory meetings ;

• Coordinating key distribution, alarm codes and approved technical devices with IT;

• Coordinate building clean ups;

• Participate in monthly health and safety inspection; and

• Assist Coordinators and Manager with large item purchases and deliveries to families.


ACCOUNTABILITY

• Punctual and maintains good attendance record;

• Adheres to Inuuqatigiit Centre Policies and Procedures;

• Demonstrates effective time management skills


WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work regular and consistent weekly hours of work; both from office and on-site visits;

• Required to work occasional evening hours,

• Additional hours on occasion to meet deadlines and ensure delivery of high-quality programs and services;

• Depending on operational and programming needs, may be required to work on-line from home due to COVID-19 Pandemic; and

• Physical ability to access three story building.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Knowledge of Inuit and non-Inuit community services and supports,

• Knowledge of the Inuit culture and community,

• Fluency in Inuktitut an asset,

• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English,

• Strong computer skills,

• Ability to function effectively in a high-stress, high noise environment;

• Ability to work well independently and in a team setting; and

• Networking and partnership-building skills.


QUALILFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Inuit descent preferred;

• High school diploma or equivalent required;

• Knowledge of the Inuit culture and community,

• Knowledge of Inuit and non-Inuit community services and supports,

• Fluency in Inuktitut an asset,

• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English,

• Strong computer skills;

• Police Records Check required in keeping Inuuqatigiit Centre’s policies and procedures;

• Medical certification of good health; and TB test if applicable;

• Immunizations up-to-date.

• Negative COVID-19 test; and

• CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to become certified).
