Position Summary:

The Job Match Coordinator, Indigenous Employment Initiatives position will be responsible for coordinating job-matching opportunities between employers and service provider partners who work directly with Indigenous youth who are seeking employment. Additionally, this role will also support the planning, management and evaluation of events that will provide an opportunity for employers to meet with potential candidates.


In partnership with the Ottawa Aboriginal Coalition, this role includes working with stakeholders from the Indigenous Employment Leadership Advisory Leadership Table (IELAT) and other community members from across the East Ontario region to support activities to increase labour market inclusion for Indigenous youth. These activities include but are not limited to creating and hosting a monthly job match conference call, promoting job opportunities within the IELAT members, hosting career information sessions and following up on candidate hires.

Reporting to the OAC Project Coordinator at the Ottawa Aboriginal Coalition and the Senior Manager, Indigenous Employment Initiative at United Way East Ontario, the Job Match Coordinator, Indigenous Employment Initiative will utilize their skills in the area of relationship building, human resources and/or recruitment experience, event planning and knowledge of the Indigenous community.

Qualifications:


Education:

  • Diploma/degree in Communications, Marketing, Human Resources or Event Planning/Management or

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year working in project management, event management and /or Human Resources or customer service

  • Minimum 1 year experience facilitating multiple stakeholders or volunteers in a complex environment 

  • Experience producing in-person and/or virtual events using Microsoft Team and Zoom as examples 

  • Experience using Microsoft Office/365, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Experience writing summary reports and/or briefs

  • Customer service experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and relationship building skills

  • Project management skills with the ability to negotiate with internal and external stakeholder groups,including senior management and senior volunteers

  • Self-motivated, strong initiative and a ‘get it done’ attitude

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities such as conflict resolution and consensus building

  • Strong problem-solving and collaborative skills, ability to manage competing interests and ambiguities

  • Demonstrated time management skills, the ability to direct both activities and resources through tools such as a critical path

  • Ability to be flexible and stay organized

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Results oriented and a keen eye for detail

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and decision-making often under pressure 

  • Excellent written communication skills in English
