AFOA Canada is the national centre for excellence and innovation in Indigenous management, finance and governance. Established in 1999, the Association is the only organization in Canada that focuses on the capacity development and day to day needs of Indigenous professionals working in all areas of management, finance and governance - today’s leaders and those of the future.
AFOA Canada is looking for an energetic candidate to join the Finance and Administration team. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating office operations in support of AFOA Canada’s head office. The Administrative Coordinator supports human resources including support for staffing activities, payroll and benefits coordination, supports health and safety by serving on the Health and Safety Committee, serving as Fire Warden, supports business continuity and emergency preparedness, supports information management and information technology for hardware and software needs, supports Travel by making travel arrangements as required. The incumbent will also support finance by updating the cashflow plan, as well as procurement and the capital asset inventory. The incumbent will also liaise with the building owner and external vendors for facilities and security issues.
THE CANDIDATE: Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and Administration, the Administrative Coordinator will be a key member of the Finance and Administration team, bringing a strong client service focus.
Possess a post-secondary diploma in business or office administration and 3-5 years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Having or working towards an AFOA Canada designation would be a strong asset
Strong knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel
Experience working with databases such as Sage 300
Experience working in a professional office environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Basic mathematical ability is required
Previous experience arranging travel is an asset
Attention to detail, thoroughness and organizational skills
Ability to prioritize and organize workload with competing priorities
Ability to take direction and be a team player as well as to work independently
Some lifting not exceeding 10 kg may be required
Additional preference may be provided to those who are fluent in French and/or an Indigenous language
